Hotel Daniel – Paris
Chinese hand-painted wallpaper, hand-painted glass panels, carpets from Kazakhstan and gourmet dining…Would you dare? Lyssiemay Annoh dispels the rumours about boutique hotels in Paris
Rumour has it that boutique hotels in Paris can be snobbish so we put Relais & Chateaux’s only Paris hotel and restaurant to the test. While ensuring that luxury is standard, we were particularly keen on the reception, the service and what the hotel had to offer.
Paris’ Relais & Chateaux hotel and restaurants do not come as rare as the exquisite Hotel Daniel on rue Frédéric Bastiat near the Champs Elysée, Paris 8th. This is where I dare you to go to enjoy regal French style living in a home away from home in this picturesque boutique solace among the 18th Century features flirting with Moroccan “zellige”, Chinese hand-painted wallpaper and baroque handcrafted glass panels – all these in the heart of Paris.
Tucked in the quiet street of Frédéric Bastiat in the heart of chic Paris 8th, a receptionist warmly greets you on arrival without any airs! One cannot fail to admire the hotel’s lounge beautifully decorated in a combination of almond green and pearl grey. The hand-painted Chinese wall paper is enchanting but to compliment it all is the cosy furniture carefully set out to invite you to sit. Did I mention the very welcoming cakes and pastries laid out for guests to enjoy an afternoon tea? Well, this is what greets you before you even see your room.
Hotel Daniel is one of the very few boutique hotels Paris with a gourmet French cuisine restaurant. The hotel invites you to enter its premises and make it your home. Hotel Daniel has 26 well-appointed rooms, seven of which are suites. The rooms are uniquely decorated and furnished with specially collected pieces mementos from across the globe and immaculately equipped with every amenity that you will need to make your stay welcome.
No particular room is the same and I am sure every guest has their own favourite room. I would say that mine is the one on the top floor which has a free standing bath and exudes romance! Dining plays an important part in the hotel’s experience. The hotel offers gourmet dining, lounge and bar dining together with afternoon tea.
