The Ideal hotel for the airplane enthusiast – Renaissance Hotels and Resorts

Make a stopover at the Renaissance London Heathrow hotel and you will think that the pilots have invited you in for an airside viewing of their flights. The hotel is ideally situated for any plane enthusiast. The Renaissance, London Heathrow even offers a “Plane Spotter Weekend Break!”

      First impressions
Walk into The Renaissance and the impressive spacious grandeur of the lobby greets you with a grand piano and the welcoming facing of the check-in staff at the very far end of the lobby. The setting creates curiosity and makes you want to explore. Any curious guest will wonder if the vast space has been designed for a reason and I believe it has.

      Meetings and Events
This is certainly a hotel with meetings and events at the forefront of its agenda; hence the very spacious and several meetings and events facilities to cater for up 500 persons in theatre style.
The hotel’s largest meeting room: Renaissance Suite; seats up to 500 theatre style but there are also 6 Master, 7 Host and 5 Studio Meeting rooms situated on our first floor and the very spacious lobby can be used for breakouts & exhibitions.

A unique asset to the hotel’s meeting and events facilities is the tiered York Auditorium which seats up to 262. The York Auditorium is ideal for previews, conferences and any event that requires large screen presentations or tiered audiences.

WiFi available throughout the hotel, meeting rooms but are subject to charge. Event planners please click here to use the step by step planning guide for events.

      The bedrooms
The hotel has 649 well-appointed, soundproofed guest rooms, 109 Club rooms, some with runway views. It also provides chargeable WiFi access in bedrooms and public areas, desk, phone/voice mail, coffeemaker/tea service. The hotel’s ensuite bathrooms have hair dryer and toiletries; whereas the rooms have a mini-bar, cable/satellite colour TV, pay-per-view movies,

Iron/ironing board, trouser press, and newspaper delivered to room. There is also a 24-hour room service and daily housekeeping. Nevertheless, the hotel’s spacious lobby area floor space is not carried over to the bedrooms which feels small in comparison to the entire hotel.

      Dining at the Renaissance
Walk through the lobby and neatly tucked away at the extreme right hand corner as you enter are the DUO Bar and DUO Restaurant both complementing each other as the name suggests. At both the bar and restaurant it quite obvious that one thing that Renaissance does not lack is space.

      The DUO Bar/Restaurant

Location: In Hotel – Ground Floor
      Serves: Meals all day

The hotel’s two dining facilities offer international cuisine. There is first of all the DUO Bar where you can relax and enjoy creative cocktails & a tasting menu. The DUO Bar service is available throughout the day & evening.

      Hotel Restaurant
Location: In Hotel – Ground Floor
      Serves: Breakfast | Dinner

There is also the DUO Restaurant, offering a very large floor space together with an excellent selection of fresh seasonal dishes.

      The Health Club
The hotel’s health is not one I would describe as state-of-the-art but it will suffice for anyone who wants a quick work out before turning in on the night or for someone who requires an early morning workout before a flight.

      How to get there
If you arrive at London Heathrow, jump onto an assigned Hotel Hoppa bus, which costs £4 in 2008, and it will surely drop you at the hotel. Otherwise if you are driving and intend to leave your car, Exit M4 junction 4, then take the third exit off the roundabout on Tunnel Road. Turn left onto East Ramp (just before the airport tunnel). Take the second exit off the Nene Road roundabout signposted “Customs House” and Renaissance Hotel”.

      Parking facilities at the hotel.
The hotel operates the Marriott, Park Here, Fly There Package whereby you can arrange to include car parking into your room booking package.
